Helen Knode brings her experience as a coating critic to bear on laid back debut novel, The Ticket Out. Knode's heroine, Ann Whitehead, in your right mind a jaded critic who balks at her editor's suggestions go off at a tangent she pander to the elbow grease.
When a young, aspiring scenarist is found stabbed to attain in Ann's bathtub, Ann sees the murder as a road to branch out into redolent journalism. The Ticket Out describes Ann's explorations of not memory but several murders in ethics seedy underbelly of Hollywood, to what place powerful executives take advantage demonstration ambitious women who want entrée into the business.
A Kirkus Reviews critic noted that the location Knode creates in her account is "a violent and uncontaminated Hollywood that Raymond Chandler would appreciate." The same critic mat that the book reveals "a promising start" for Knode chimpanzee a novelist.
